History of Chaozhou Ceramics

Chaozhou has a long history of ceramic production and is one of the ancient porcelain capitals of China and the birthplace of ceramic culture. Unearthed artifacts show that pottery production was produced as early as 5000 years ago in the Neolithic Age. The massive site of Chaozhou Kiln at Penjieshan is one of the 21 ancient porcelain kiln sites that are national key cultural relics protection units. Chaozhou exports porcelain has a long history, the Tang and Song dynasties, and many ceramics along the Maritime Silk Road to Southeast Asian countries, across the South China Sea, sailing across the Indian Ocean, and to the Persian Gulf countries.
